A Drink For Your Skin!

I wanted to offer something different so I decided to make a Pink Lemonade Body Butter.  It is made from Raw African Shea Butter as is most of our Body Whips, Body Balms, and Body Butters.  This Body Butter is so fresh smelling, not that child like sweetness that you get with most fruit and citrus scented products.  It goes on nice and smooth, quickly melting into your skin to give it that much needed drink of moisture, especially as the days get colder and colder in this season.

Our Pink Lemonade Body Butter also features Karanj Oil which is known to relieve itching skin and some wounds; Grape Seed Oil leaves a light satin feeling on the skin and is known to have some anti-aging benefits as well as keeping your skin supple and    giving your skin an even tone.

Many are the benefits of Shea Butter for skin, its known to help relieve dry and itching skin, assists with softening stretch marks, moisturizes chapped skin, wrinkles, signs of aging, soothes rough skin, helps with eczema, skin rashes, dermatitis, and can be used in massage to relieve muscle aches and tension.

I like this Body Butter after a long day, and I need a mental pick me up. I just jump in the shower and while my skin is still wet I smooth on this Body Butter.  Smells yummy and feels really good on the skin.

Pinterest!

Pinterest, Pinterest, Pinterest.  That’s all I kept coming across in my emails, on my Face Book page and in conversations with friends; I saw this or that on Pinterest, I pinned something on my board.  Some even suggested that I check it out.  I thought to myself “Hey, I have a personal Face Book page, and a Fan Page for business. I don’t need another thing to have to manage.”  So, without further ado and after a year of hearing about it, reading about it, and debating about it, I have finally created a Pinterest account.

Now, for me right now, it’s a little overwhelming.  I’m trying to see all I can see, read all I can read, like and comment on the things I see, but I’m still trying to figure out how I want to use Pinterest to best benefit me and the hubby.  We both have businesses that I think could benefit from being on Pinterest, but I’m not sure if its the best way or best thing for us to do right now.

What if our postings get really great attention and we actually start making even more than we have been making through our FB pages? That would be great.  The increase in business would be really great, but what concerns me is being able to handle the business from Pinterest, FB, and even our personal encounters of people that we tell about our business.  I mean from what I’ve seen people are posting everything from things that they sell as a business, things they sell like a garage sell, things that they use in their home, craft projects, gifts, art, movies, music, photos and so much more.

So I’ll give it the first 30 days and see how things go.  I’ve started one board and plan to add some more items to it to see how the exposure turns out.

Do you have a Pinterest account?  How do you use yours?  Is it beneficial for what you want to use it for? Did you end up using it for something other than what your first intention was?

Opportunity Knocks!

Ok, so, Wednesday of this week I had a meeting with a spa owner.  I’m still taking all of that part in…I had a meeting with a spa owner!

I had contacted her about a month ago and we’ve been doing an email dance.  We finally made contact and set the meeting.  We sat down and talked for about an hour.  She enjoyed smelling the samples that I had created for her; a healthy helping of our body butters, and scrubs.  I even threw in a jar of our Naturally Good Body Balm.  She gave a run down of products that she is looking to incorporate into her business when she does her spa parties.

Immediately my wheels began turning.  She actually is looking to put our products in her spa to use with her clients and to offer to them for sale.  The interview was quite intensive, but I was ready and absolutely willing to offer her the information that she needed and even offered some suggestions that she took with a great smile on her face.

I left there will a feeling of gratefulness and wearing the fragrance of accomplishment.  I did some research to look for some things that I think she would like to incorporate and even suggested making some products specifically for her spa, her own brand made by us.  I’m so happy right now.  I have a shipment of new ingredients coming in by next Tuesday and I can’t wait to start mixing and testing things to have a whole other group of items to offer her.

This is an opportunity that I’ve been looking for for a long time.  I pray that it leads to more doors opening.

Opportunity Knocks!  I’m  ready!

The Arrival

It’s here, and I’m pleased to announce our Himalayan Pink Body Scrub.  It features Himalayan Pink Salt and White Sugar.  We added some yummy oils like Sesame, Rice Bran, Sweet Almond, Avocado, and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

We tried to pack it with as much of our favorite skin loving things as we could and we are very pleased with the results.  It has a blend of Tangerine and Lemon Grass Essential Oils in, but very light so it’s not overpowering.  It is truly a treat that takes you away to the finest spa, imagining of course. LOL!

Anyway, We are hoping that our clients will enjoy it as much as we do.  Himalayan Pink salt has so many benefits for the skin and this is why we chose it.  Maybe next time we’ll do a scrub with just Himalayan Pink Salt and the delicious oils, a salt glow  perhaps.

You can find out more about it and our other products at Fragrance Cafe’

Island Vacation

Hello. I just wanted to give a glimpse of our new “Island Vacation” Sugar Scrub, available at Fragrance Cafe’
I so enjoyed putting this one together. I took the fragrance that we selected, phalate free of course, and blended it with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, and all I can say is WOW!
It takes your mind away to some place exotic. We add organic cane sugar, and Grapefruit Seed Extract. Indulge your senses with this scrub, we may have to make a lotion or body butter with this scent because is just that beautiful.
How about a delicate and masterful blend of grapefruit zest, succulent, and juicy mango, and sandalwood. This description pales in comparison to how beautiful the scent is in this scrub.

Love My Face

This is just a simple facial scrub that I actually created for myself. Pure Coconut Oil (unscented), Lemongrass EO, and Cedarwood EO. I like the way the Coconut Oil moisturizes my skin after I rinse the scrub off.

Cedarwood EO is an astringent. It’s good for acne, eczema, and oily skin. Lemongrass EO is a bactericidal, an anti-oxidant and anti-septic just to name a few. Plus I love the smell of Lemon Grass EO.

I like not having to apply pressure or scrub the scrub off my face because the product is too heavy. I made this scrub just to treat myself to something special that I know will do exactly what I need it to do and nothing extra. I have experienced a couple really harsh store bought scrub and that’s why I made this. I normally just use my little face brush to exfoliate, but like I said, this is for when I want to give myself a little treat.

What are some ways you “love your face”? Do you use anything special? Why did you choose that particular thing? I’d love to hear from you.

Brown Sugar Body Polish

Ok, one of the things I’ve been working on is scrubs. It started with a request from one of my faithful clients and just grew from there. I really want to get into offering fresh scrubs for our clients, but for now we have this wonderful Brown Sugar Body Polish, and then we have Hawaiin Kona Coffee Scrub, and our Gourmet Brown Sugar Scrub (1st one created) with lots of goodies in it.
The Body Polish features Organic Raw Sugar and a host of our favorite carrier oils, honey, and grapefruit seed extract. Of course I was the first to try it and I love it.

I’m loving the research and knowledge that I gain from taking this step of faith in my business so, I’ll see how far it can go. Happy Scrubbing! Maybe I need to find a coach or somebody I can learn from hands on.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to share your thoughts.

Get Inspired!

Happy New Day to you! How was your weekend? Did you get out and do something inspiring or encouraging?

I got a chance, for the second week in a row, to go to an art and craft show outdoors. One week it was Farmington Hills, MI and this past weekend it was Berkley, MI Art Bash.

I love going to art shows and craft shows because just to be able to get into an enviroment where the focus is things made by or put together by the hands and minds of creative people is inspiring for me. I create things all the time and write so, my creative ability flows, but sometimes I just like to get out and see what others are doing. I like to see the passion that drives others to do what they do.
The art show that hubby and I went to in Farmington Hills thrilled me because my husband got a chance to see exactly what he is able to do with his art photography. I’ve been pressing him for a couple years to do something with the beautiful photos that he has taken, but for him to be able to see what I’ve been talking about all this time made me happy because his eyes just glowed with inspiration and made him ready to jump to it. He has created some beautiful photos for friends and family and even a couple ministries that we’ve been affliated with, but nothing really for monetary purposes. I always think about the prophet Elijah when he asked the woman “what do you have in your house?” when she came to him with a debt delima.

When we set out this weekend we actually got to enjoy the Detroit Institute of Arts, of which I haven’t been since 3rd grade (shame on me). It wasn’t the art that drew us there, but the Friday Night Live Jazz Series featuring one of my favorite local jazz bands. Honestly since I didn’t really go for the art I need to go again and just take it all in. I did see some beautiful pieces so, I will be making a return trip soon. Then Saturday we went to the Berkley Art Bash. It was kind of small, but that’s ok with me. I like small mangable type events sometimes. It allows you to take in everything around you and really enjoy what the small town or city has to offer. We spoke with some beautiful people and saw art made from things like glass and wood to hand crafted candles and housewares made from things like granite and yarn, copper and brass, recycled materials and some things that you would never think, at least I wouldn’t, could be made into art and sold…We even found a new little place to get some good food. Actually it was two places. One was a mom and pop type place and another was a bar and grill. The smoke free atmosphere that we have in Michigan now in the bar and grills make it easy for us to enjoy some good food in a place we wouldn’t normally go to avoid coming out smelling like smoke.
So, I say next time you’re feeling a little blue and want a change of scenery, find an art show or something similar in your area and Get Inspired.
What have you done to get inspired lately?

One Thing Leads to Another

Ok, I’m feeling so honored right now.

A loyal client of mine came to pick up a jar of the new Cocoa Butter Almond Body Butter the other day.

She was ranting and raving about how she couldn’t wait to get home to try it so, she applied some to her hands at the first stop light.  Now I’m thinking to myself when she told me that “Good thing its not greasy”…so anyway, she was and is very satisfied with the product.

She called, rather texted me to find out if I was making soaps or scrubs yet and I said no.  She said she loves sugar scrubs and to keep her posted when I start making scrubs.  Well, in an effort to appeal to and keep a client satisfied I began to ask her a series of questions to find out what she looks for in a scrub, and some of her previous experiences with scrubs.  After about 5 minutes of texting back and forth, I kind of had an idea of what to make for her, but I don’t make scrubs right? LOL!

So, I said to her “well, I can pick up a few things and put a scrub together just for you if you like”  I could actually feel the smile on her face as she texted back…oh my God that would be the bomb…she asked if I could make it in the scent that I used in the body butter and of course I said yes.  She went on to say, the body butter smelled so good she wanted to eat it.  I guess that’s a plus, but I don’t recommend it.

So I’ve been doing some research as to what I want to include in her scrub to make it luxurious and pleasing for her.  I guess this means once the word gets out I’ll be doing custom sugar scrubs too.

One thing can definately lead to another if you keep your options open.
